How much hack and slash is too much? Critically lauded by reviewers and players alike, Diablo 3, Blizzard’s hit from 2013, is a fantastic game that unfortunately shows its scenaristic and gameplay shallowness.

Build an empire! Conquer planets! Control an entire solar system! The premise of Starpoint Gemini Warlords is undeniably enthralling. Unfortunately, with the release of the « 2.0 » version, with various modifications and tweaks, the game still lacks behind what it could really be.
I’m finding it very hard to dislike Steven Spielberg. It seems that enjoying his repertoire is the equivalent to liking ice cream and laughing. It’s rare to find someone who doesn’t like either. His newest movie to come out is Ready Player One, based on Ernest Kline’s novel of the same name. It could have been a glorified computer graphic nightmare, full of nostalgia lacking any kind of substance. But in the hands of the man who made some of the most memorable and stunning movies, it turned out to be a heartfelt love letter for gamers and geeks alike. Insert credit for Ready Player One.
The scent of spices on a cold night in the desert. The faint light of torches, far away. And between two houses, a shadowy figure: our hero, who will need all of his wit – and probably his wip, to triumph against the forces of Evil. Welcome to the City of Brass.
The road to videogame success is treacherous. Release too early, or without major features, and you’ll risk alienating you fanbase and ruin your chances to sell the right amount of copies. Wait too long, and players will lose interest and buy something. And for Little Green Men Games, developer of Starpoint Gemini Warlords, the challenge consist in releasing a « complete » product, while still providing additional content for the months – and maybe the years – to come.
It’s here: the long-awaited « sequel » to Starpoint Gemini 2, Warlords, came out recently, and although the game still is a little bit rough on the edges, Little Green Men Games potentially has a great game in its hands.
